Livestock

Genesis Mountain Farm raises a variety of livestock for meat and dairy. Our animals include Cattle, Dairy and Meat Goats, Idaho Pasture Pigs, Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks and Rabbits. They have access to roughly 10acres of pasture while enjoying the security and seasonal comfort offered by our Douglas Fir, High Mountain Barn. Our livestock and property are kept predator-free by our 5 livestock guardian dogs.

Sustainable and Natural Practices

Genesis Mountain Farm operates with a strong commitment to sustainability and natural animal care:

  • Pasture-Fed and Non-GMO Feeds: We focus on pasture feeding whenever possible. When appropriate, we feed our animals non-GMO feeds and local grown (pesticide free) alfalfa.

  • Natural Methods: The farm employs natural methods for animal care, focusing on prevention rather than treatment.

  • Rotational Grazing: Livestock are rotated/moved intentionally on the pastures to prevent overgrazing and promote pasture regeneration. This method helps maintain soil health and reduces the risk of disease transmission and parasite infection.

  • Composting and Waste Management: Animal waste is composted to create nutrient-rich soil amendments, reducing waste and promoting a closed-loop system. This approach also minimizes odor and maintains a clean environment.

  • Animal Welfare: The farm prioritizes animal welfare. We ensure that all livestock have proper nutrition and the opportunity to exhibit natural behaviors. This focus on animal well-being leads to healthier animals and higher-quality products.

Our livestock and the commitment to their wellbeing contribute to the overall health and productivity of the entire farm system.

We offer a weekly harvest of
non-GMO produce.
