In 2021 we were inspired to pursue a new life endeavor. Our families are each deeply connected to farming, food and the pursuit of general wellness. It was important to us that what we manifest serve the community, be life-affirming and reflect our roots. We spent 2 years building out the infrastructure for our vision and in 2023, Genesis Mountain Farm was born.
Genesis Mountain Farm is a gift.
It allows us to grow bio-secure, nutrient-dense food. It is a way for us to hopefully inspire others and help them to become actionable by offering opportunities to learn about different farming methods and receive hands-on experience. Genesis Mountain Farm is a venue for people to come together — from farm-to-table dinners to private events.
ERIK
I have always wanted to farm, have a passion for wellness, and have a love for cooking. Bringing these individual areas of interest together took several decades and followed many turns. My story includes spending over twenty years providing player development in the hockey industry, co-founding a biofuel company, fire academy, and more.
In 2007, my interest in farming moved from the large-scale commercial model of my North Dakota family to small-scale regenerative methods.
I began to study permaculture and received certifications in Permaculture Design through (what is now) The Tilth Alliance and Closed-Loop Aquaponics via Max Meyers - NorCal Aquaponics. These disciplines played a significant role in the creation of Genesis Mountain Farm.
NICOLE
I lived a rural, eastern Washington life until moving to Seattle in my late teenage years. My childhood was heavily influenced by the experiences on my Grandmother’s farm and cooking in her restaurant.
Memories of climbing trees in the orchard for an apple, collecting eggs and raspberries to sell to the local community, and witnessing my grandmother operate a farm and restaurant left a strong imprint and inspired much of my working life.
I have always been an entrepreneur. I founded and operated several successful businesses, ultimately becoming a respected restaurateur for almost 20 years.
